I didn’t know much about sage before I saw it in abondance at the farm and I learned to like it and to know that it is used for thousands of years for food, beverage, and medicine, specially around Mediteranian Sea and South of Euroup. Sage is in mint family  with a lot of health promoting qualities. Like mint it is perenial and every year it comes back. It is good for mental health and enhances memory. It also reduces cholesterol in people with diabetese 2 and it has anti inflammatory and antioxidant quality. They use it to reduce menisteral cramps  and diarrhea. This wonderful herb was used to preserve meat before refregator was invented and it gives a fantastic taste to mashed potatoes. Sage is used in potato and leek soup. You can cook potatoes and sate leek, blend them together with some vegitable or chicken broth, add salt and pepper, sate chopped sage in some butter and mix it with the soup. Yum! I was walking in the farm that I saw a row of white raspberry bushes. I picked a few along with a few sage leaves and put them in a cup and added some boiled water. The fragrance was amazing and after a few minutes berries were soft enough to be mashed with the back of spoon and release their juice and vitamins in the tea. You should try it yourself with any kind of raspberry. So refreshing and soothing! 🙂
