Organic Spinach

“Let food be your medicine.” Hippocrates

I remember when I was a little girl, my mom used to tell us that we needed to eat our spinach, because it was full of iron and made us strong. Of course watching Popeye on TV was another enforcement for the concept. However, it was later in my life that I learned about other spinach health benefits and how to use it in different dishes, like in a rice topping mixed with chicken and plum (khoreshe aloo esfenaj) or with other greens and lamb and beens (khoreshe ghormeh sabzee), in yogurt as a side dish, with fried eggs as a breakfast dish, and in different salads, stews, and green smoothies.

Spinach is good for your hair, skin, bones, and blood. It keeps your hair and skin healthy and growing, because it contains vitamine A & C, iron, and minerals. If you have an itchy dry skin or losing your hair, adding fresh organic spinach to your diet is a good thing. It is good for your bones, because of the calcium it contains. It prevents anemia and it is beneficial for lowering blood presure and blood sugar. It has a lot of fibers, which is good for regulation and digestion and it has anti cancer characteristics that detoxify your body. So, lets add fresh organic baby spanich to the list for our next grocery shopping and eat it the same day 🙂
