“Let food be your medicine.” Hippocrates

If you don’t have an Aloe Vera plant, get one as soon as you can, because this is the easiest growing plant with so much health benefits. Aloe Vera is a low maintenance and forgiving plant. So, you don’t need to have any gardening skills in order to grow it. Aloe Vera came from Africa thousands of years ago and now it is used all over the world in both food and herbal medicine.

Aloe Vera is rich in vitamin A, B, C, E and folic acid and it helps the health of almost all systems in human body such as, hair & skin, joints & muscles, heart and lung, immunity, and gum & gastrointestinal. It helps body regeneration and delays aging.

Aleo Vera can be used topical for hair as shampoo or conditioner to prevent hair loss and on skin to treat burns and wounds as well as to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It soothes menstrual pain. It has anti-inflammatory effect and it even can be used as a natural food preservative. It is good for diabetics and for those with high cholesterol. It prevents cancer growth and helps nausea, reflux, and digestion.

When I was serving in Thailand as a Peace Corps Volunteer, my daughter came to visit me. After our visit, she flew to puket to get some scuba diving lessons before I could join her. When I arrived to the hotel in Puket and hugged her, she screamed of pain. All her skin was red from sunburn and she couldn’t even tolerate her cloth touch her skin. I put my suitcase in the room and went to the garden to look for Aloe Vera. In the back of the garden I found a couple of Aloe Vera plants. I picked some and applied to her skin. We couldn’t beleive the magical healing power we saw. In few hours she was all healed. 🙂
